In Loving Memory

It's hard for me to write this post without crying, but since I'm physically so far from my family and friends, this is the best I can do.

Early Friday morning, my brother in law's father passed away.  Although Mr. D was in a wheelchair due to his fight with MS, his passing was a complete shock.  He was taken to the hospital on Thurs night for chest pains, and by the early morning, he had left us.  He left behind his wife, a saint, a tiny framed woman who put her own interests aside to care for him.  He left behind a daughter, her husband, and thier two beautiful daughters, too young to understand their grandfather isn't coming home.  He also left behind my wonderful brother in law (and my sister), who made his father's quality of life in the past few years infinitely better.

Dave loved his father so much, that he gave up job opportunities so he could be withing driving distance of his father. Being in a wheelchair would have ended a lot of his hobbies; Dave made sure they continued.  He took his dad to their cabin so his father could look out the window watch him hunt.  Dave took him swimming in his parent's pool.  Dave would even drive 2 hours to take his dad to a dentist appt so he could be lifted in and out of the chair.  This is the kind of man Dave is, and the kind of man his father was. 

While Mr. D has passed on to a new life, those left behind remember what a generous, caring man he was. I will never forget that smile of his, shown here with my dad at their rehersal dinner. Dave now has a guardian angel and we all have Mr D smiling down on us from heaven.
