This morning as I started work at 7am, they resumed the road work near our house, complete with incessant, annoying jackhammers. An hour in and I thought I would go crazy. Is this going to go on ALL day? I couldn't concentrate.
But then I read this article about a man from Miami who took a job as a contractor firefighter in Iraq. He hopes to pay off his debt and when he returns in over a year, he won't have to work 2 jobs to support his family, and can spend time with his 3 year old son. He wakes up to artillery fire and bomb blasts in the distance.
I'll take my jackhammers and be grateful we're in a financial position where I don't have to listen to the alternative.
